We’re John and Catherine McCabe, passionate sailors who have been sailing the coastal waters of the Atlantic since the 80's. We invite you to travel and grow with us and we expand our sailing grounds and perfect boat handling and relationships on the water.
Our Story
Somewhere Beyond The Sea
We met in 1992 as undergrads at Rutgers University. Our early romance was ignorant to our common interest in sailing. Discovering we had a shared passion for sailing certainly helped seal the deal and we married in 1996. By 2005 we had 2 kids, a mortgage, and a little Hobie Cat. In 2005 we bought our first "big" boat, a Contest 36s. In 2015 we bought Adventure, John quit his corporate job, and started teaching sailing. 2024 we made the leap to partial live aboards and started blending cruising with sail instruction.
Sailing Journeys
Our home turf is definitely the NJ shore, NY Harbor, and Long Island Sound. John sailed these waters with his family (grandfather as captain) in his youth. Catherine sailed the same with her family (father as captain).
Together, John & Catherine have sailed the entire east coast; Florida to Maine and beyond with trips to the Bahamas and Canada.
